Jake Barrett: Barrett Auto

After 20 years of mechanical experience, Jake Barrett knew that he wanted to step into a role that made him a reliable and trusted member of his community. As a result, he opened Barrett Auto in Gwinn, Michigan. 

Jake spent years working under management and understands what it’s like to be an incredibly hard worker. His goal has always been to support both his family and his community, which inspired him to become the go-to trustworthy source for people’s vehicles.

One of the hardest parts about creating his own shop? The bravery to begin! Jake said, “I didn't want the stress of starting my own business, but finally launching the business actually made the stress less. Just begin somewhere, begin small.” 

Accelerate UP loved joining Jake on his journey opening Barrett Auto. Jake’s passion, love for community, and drive to be a trusted shop owner were inspiring to witness. He was able to be supported by us with guidance on financial projections, legal resources, and a team to lean on. 

Barrett Auto celebrated its first day in business this past September. So far, Jake’s favorite part about owning his own business is the community and friendly faces that surround it.
